- There is no doubt that one of the instant noodle products from Indonesia, namely Indomie, is known in almost all corners of the world. In fact, Indomie is included in the ranks of the tastiest instant noodle brands at international level.
In April 1970, Djajadi Djaja et al founded Sanmaru Food Manufacturing. Then in 1972, they started producing instant noodles under the name Indomie, which comes from the abbreviation of Indonesia and Mie.
Then, Liem Sioe Liong, who was a wheat flour businessman, joined Djajadi and founded PT Indofood Eterna in 1984. Now, it has changed its name to PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (ICBP).
According to the official Indofood website, Indomie is one of the largest instant noodle producers in the world with various flavors ranging from chicken, vegetable, to curry chicken. The superior product is Indomie Mi Goreng. Indomie is now half a century old.
Indomie has a market share of around 70% of the instant noodle market in Indonesia and is traded in 100 countries in the world including Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, the United States, Canada, Europe and the Middle East with a production capacity of 19 billion packs per year .
Even in Africa, Indomie has become a favorite and has won awards, including the award for the most chosen instant noodle product in Africa according to the Kantar Worldpanel entitled Brand Footprint. Not only that, according to LA Times Food, Indomie with fried noodle flavor is in tenth place in the tastiest instant noodle category in 2019.
Some time ago, it even went viral that an Indonesian citizen opened a coffee shop (warkop) in New York, United States, providing Indonesian-style instant noodles. The price of a single bowl of instant noodles is priced at US$ 3 or the equivalent of IDR 44 thousand (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 14,992/US$). This price does not include accompaniments such as eggs, corned beef or cheese.

Singapore 0.4 Singapore dollars (Rp. 3,914/pack)
Japan : 170 yen (Rp. 20,000/pack)
Hong Kong: 2.87 Hong Kong dollars (Rp. 4,899/pack)
UK: 0.47 pounds (Rp. 8,088/pack)
Ghana Africa : 1.2 Ghana Cedis (Rp. 2,880/pack)
Europe: 0.49 euro or around Rp. 7,500 per pack
Meanwhile in Indonesia, the price of Indomie varies depending on the taste. For example, the price of Indomie Chicken Curry is IDR 2,450 per pack and Indomie Soto Mite is IDR 2,500 per pack.

Based on the financial report for the first quarter of 2022, PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (ICBP) recorded an annual increase in net sales of 14% to IDR 17.19 trillion. Meanwhile, operating profit fell 7% on an annual basis to IDR 3.53 trillion from the previous IDR 3.82 trillion due to increases in various commodity prices.
Even so, operating margin was still maintained at the level of 20.6%. In the same period last year, the figure was 25.3%.
As a result, ICBP was still able to increase net profit 12% on an annual basis to IDR 1.94 trillion from the previous IDR 1.74 trillion. Now, ICBP has a workforce of 35,994 employees.

Indomie mempunyai pangsa pasar sekitar 70% dari pangsa pasar mie instan di Indonesia dan telah diperdagangkan di 100 negara di dunia termasuk Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Afrika, Amerika Serikat, Kanada, Eropa dan Timur Tengah dengan kapasitas produksi sebanyak 19 miliar bungkus per tahun.
Bahkan di Afrika, Indomie menjadi primadona dan berhasil memenangkan penghargaan, termasuk penghargaan produk mie instan yang paling banyak dipilih di Afrika berdasarkan Kantar Worldpanel bertajuk Brand Footprint. Tidak hanya itu, melansir LA Times Food, Indomie dengan rasa mie goreng berada pada urutan kesepuluh dengan kategori mie instan terenak di 2019.
Beberapa waktu lalu, bahkan viral seorang warga negara Indonesia membuka warung kopi (warkop) di New York, Amerika Serikat dengan menyediakan mie instan ala Indonesia. Harga satu mangkuk mie instan porsi single di banderol US$3 atau setara dengan Rp 44 ribuan (asumsi kurs Rp 14.992/US$). Harga tersebut belum termasuk pelengkap seperti telur, kornet atau keju.

Sementara itu di Indonesia, harga Indomie bervariatif tergantung rasa. Misalnya harga Indomie Kari Ayam Rp 2.450 per bungkus dan Indomie Soto Mite Rp 2.500 per bungkus. Berdasarkan laporan keuangan kuartal I-2022, PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (ICBP) mencatat kenaikan penjualan bersih 14% secara tahunan menjadi Rp 17,19 triliun. Sementara laba usaha turun 7% secara tahunan menjadi Rp 3,53 triliun dari sebelumnya Rp 3,82 triliun karena kenaikan berbagai harga komoditas.
