 - Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) have recently increased again amidst the transition season in Indonesia. Based on the official website healthynegeriku.kemkes.go.id, as of Tuesday (26/3) or the 13th week, dengue cases in Indonesia were reported to have reached 53,131 people. Meanwhile, 404 deaths due to dengue were reported.

"Our monitoring results continue to increase. However, they have not yet reached the maximum point. It seems that the potential increase will still occur, perhaps until the next transition season," said Director General of Disease Prevention and Control Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, quoted from the official website healthynegeriku.kemkes.go.id .
Quoted from the Media Husada Health Journal entitled 'The Effect of Angkak (Yeast Rice) to increase Platelet Levels In Patients with DHF', DHF is a disease in tropical areas that is transmitted by the Dengue virus (arbovirus) and enters the human body through the bite of the Aedes mosquito. Aegypti andAedes Albopictus. Dengue fever often occurs in environments that have low environmental sanitation/cleanliness.
In some people, dengue fever does not show any symptoms. However, within 4-10 days after being bitten, a fever of up to 40 degrees Celsius will appear accompanied by severe headaches, muscle pain, joints and the area behind the eyes.

Apart from that, WHO states that a finding that is almost always found in dengue fever is thrombocytopenia, which is a condition where the peripheral blood platelet count is found to be ≤100,000/mm3.
According to Hopkins Medicine, people with low platelets or thrombocytopenia have various symptoms, including excessive bleeding, easy bruising, rashes in the form of small red spots, nosebleeds, blood in the urine or stool and joint pain. In fact, thrombocytopenia can be life-threatening or cause complications if left untreated.

Low platelet conditions have several treatment variations. One of them is by consuming Angkak, a type of red rice from China that is fermented with the yeast Monascus purpureus. Angkak is often used as an ingredient in traditional medicine in China.

Based on the Media Husada Health Journal entitled 'The Effect of Angkak (Yeast Rice) to increase Platelet Levels In Patients with DHF', traditional medicine by consuming Angkak can be one of the traditional medicines that can increase the number of platelets naturally.
Empirically, many have proven that dengue fever patients who consume red rice have a rapid increase in platelets compared to patients who do not consume red rice. From this journal, research results were also obtained, which showed that the platelet levels of dengue fever sufferers who consumed red rice were higher than those who did not consume red rice.

Currently, Angkak has been widely used in modern medicines, one of which is Konilife Redaxin. Each Konilife Redaxin capsule contains 600 mg of yeast. Containing red red beans, Konilife Redaxin can help reduce blood fat and increase platelets in the blood. (adv/adv)
