 - Some foods, such as meat and seafood, are often questioned about their halal status. Like these five foods which are apparently halal for Muslim consumption.

Finding halal food to consume is the obligation of every Muslim. Allah SWT commands his servants to consume food that is not only halal, but also good. In the Qur'an it is recorded which foods are halal and haram. Apart from being halal, food must also be healthy or good so that it has health effects when consumed.
"O you who believe, eat of the good (halal) provision that We have given you and give thanks to Allah, if truly it is Him that you worship (worship)." (Q.S. Al-Baqarah, 2:172).

The prohibition on eating non-halal food has also been explained in the hadith of Rasulullah SAW, "Every body that grows from haram (food), then the fire of hell is more important for it (more worthy of burning it)." (H.R. At-Thabrani).

Beef, fish, goat, chicken and lamb are examples of halal consumption. Meanwhile, it is mentioned in the Koran that several haram foods include carrion, blood, pork, alcohol and animals slaughtered without mentioning the name of Allah SWT.
Sometimes there are still many Muslims who are hesitant to eat certain types of food because they doubt whether it is halal. Like some of the foods below which are apparently halal for consumption by Muslims.

1. Horse Meat

Quoting from MUI.or.id (15/03), basically horse meat is halal for consumption. That's because horse meat is included in Al-Baha'im or Bahimatul-An'am or a group of livestock.
And the meat is considered Ma'kulul-lahm or may be eaten. Although it was once mentioned in one history that the Prophet Muhammad SAW forbade consuming horse meat.

However, it was temporary due to conditional needs at that time. Namely, horses are needed as a tool or means of war. However, when conditions permit it can be eaten again.
The Prophet Muhammad SAW also consumed horse meat. This is explained in the hadith narrated from Jabir bin Abdillah.

"We once went on a pilgrimage with the Prophet Muhammad SAW, and we ate horse meat and drank its milk," HR. Ad-Daruquthni, al-Baihaqi. An-Nawawi said: Sanadnyashahih).

2. Octopus

Octopus is classified as seafood that is halal for consumption by Muslims. Recently, there has been a trend of eating live octopus, causing many Muslims to question its halalness again. Answering this doubt, the scholar Buya Yahya explained the laws of eating octopus.
"Octopus is a type of marine animal, whose carcass is halal to eat even if it dies," said young cleric Buya Yahya, in a YouTube video on the Al-Bahjah TV channel.
"Here we discuss what the law is about eating animals alive. Live animals are divided into two, first, animals that are not slaughtered will become carrion. So they cannot be eaten alive, absolutely, they must not be swallowed alive, they must be slaughtered ," continued Buya Yahya further.
This is stated in the As-Shafi'i Mahzab, because swallowing animals alive such as octopuses is haram. Because it is considered to torture the animal. At the end of the video, Buya Yahya advises people not to imitate strange eating trends or those that are harmful to the body. Because in the Islamic religion itself, eating is an activity to increase gratitude to Allah SWT.

3. Crab

Crab is the type of seafood that many people like the most. The soft, tasty meat mixed with spices makes anyone unable to resist the deliciousness of crab.
However, despite its deliciousness, the legal provisions for consuming crab are still often questioned. Because crabs can live in two realms, namely in water and on land.
In 2002, LPPOM MUI discussed the law on eating crabs. Quoted from the official website, Dr Sulistiono, Lecturer at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, IPB, said that crabs are a type of aquatic animal.
It is called that because crabs breathe with gills, live in water, and never lay eggs on land, but in water because they need oxygen and water.
With this explanation, the MUI Fatwa Commission determined that eating crab is halal as long as it does not pose a danger to human health.

4. Fried Grasshoppers

In Asia, such as Vietnam, Thailand, China and Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta, grasshoppers are often processed into snacks. These crispy and tasty fried grasshoppers are actually included in the halal snack category.

However, many people also ask about the halal status of grasshoppers. Are these insects considered animals that are halal for consumption?
Reporting from Halal MUI, it is explained that grasshoppers are a type of insect. When dead, it falls into the category of carcasses that are halal for consumption, like fish.

In particular, the Qur'an does not mention the prohibition of grasshoppers. However, the hadith from Ibn Umar ra. states that grasshoppers are animals that can be consumed.
"Two carcasses and two blood are permitted to us. The two carcasses that are lawful are fish and grasshoppers. Meanwhile, the two blood that are lawful are the liver and the spleen." (H.R. Ahmad, Ibnu Majah, Ad-Daru Quthni and At-Tirmidhi).

And fear Allah to Whom you will be gathered (again)."
So for those of you Muslims who love Japanese food, especially sea urchin or uni, you don't need to hesitate to eat this seafood. It is said that sea urchins have a complex combination of flavors between sweet, slightly bitter and salty.

Nabi Muhammad SAW pun pernah mengonsumsi daging kuda.
