- In Saudi Arabia there is a 'Sleeping Prince' who has been in a coma for 18 years in his hospital bed. The name of the 'prince' is Al-Waleed bin Khaled Al-Saud.
He is the nephew of Al-waleed bin Talal, who is one of the Saudi Arabian conglomerates.
In 2005, Al-Waleed was a handsome young man who was studying at a military college in London. Tragically, he was in a car accident which caused severe injuries and bleeding in the brain.

Since then, Al-Waleed never regained consciousness. This means that the prince has been in a coma for 18 years. With his current condition, he also earned the nickname 'Prince of Sleep.'
So far, Al-Waleed has lived with the help of medical devices. The father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, refused to remove the ventilator that had been supporting Al-Waleed's life. The family itself is still hoping for the prince's recovery.
His father admitted that he was often asked why he didn't just remove the tools attached to Al-Waleed's body.
"If God wanted him dead, he would be in his grave by now," Prince Khaled said, quoted by The National News.

Meanwhile, after being in a coma for more than a decade, Prince Al-Waleed has counted moving his body parts twice, namely in 2019 and 2020.
In 2019, Princess Nora bint Talal, the sister of Al-Waleed's father, shared a video showing Al-Waleed moving his head left and right.

Then, in 2020, the 'Sleeping Prince' is seen gesticulating as a woman greets him in a video clip.
'Hi Didi hello hello let me see hey' he said as the prince shook his finger in response.
"My beloved son Khalid bin Talal Al Walid, all praise be to Allah, who revives whom He wills with His commands. All praise be to Allah, who restores your health, so do not despair in the power of Allah," he wrote on Twitter.
