- The world was shocked by the Arab Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled Al-Saud who has been in a coma for 18 years. Until now, the prince is still alive.
The nephew of Saudi Arabian conglomerate Al-Waleed bin Talal, fell into a coma after having a car accident while studying at the Military College in London in 2005. It causes severe injury and bleeding in the brain.
Since then, Al-Waleed never regained consciousness. With his current condition, he also earned the nickname 'Prince of Sleep.'
So far, Al-Waleed has lived with the help of medical devices. The father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, refused to remove the ventilator that had been supporting Al-Waleed's life. The family itself is still hoping for the prince's recovery.
His father admitted that he was often asked why he didn't just remove the tools attached to Al-Waleed's body.
"If God wanted him to die, he would be in his grave by now," said Prince Khaled, quoted from The National News.
Meanwhile, after being in a coma for more than a decade, Prince Al-Waleed has counted moving his body parts twice, namely in 2019 and 2020.
In 2019, Princess Nora bint Talal, the sister of Al-Waleed's father, shared a video showing Al-Waleed moving his head left and right.
So far, Al-Waleed has lived with the help of medical devices. The father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, refused to remove the ventilator that had been supporting Al-Waleed's life. The family itself is still hoping for the prince's recovery.

Keponakan dari konglomerat Arab Saudi Al-waleed bin Talal, mengalami koma setelah mengalami kecelakaan mobil kala menempuh studi di Perguruan Militer di London pada 2005 silam. Hal itu menyebabkan cedera parah dan pendarahan di otak.
Sejak itu, Al-Waleed tak pernah sadarkan diri. Dengan kondisinya saat ini, ia pun mendapatkan julukan 'Pangeran Tidur.'
Selama ini Al-Waleed hidup dengan bantuan alat medis. Sang ayah, Pangeran Khaled bin Talal menolak untuk mencabut ventilator yang selama ini menjadi penyangga hidup Al-Waleed. Pihak keluarga sendiri masih berharap atas kesembuhan sang pangeran.
Ayahnya mengaku sering ditanya mengapa dia tidak melepaskan saja alat-alat yang menempel di badan Al-Waleed.
"Jika Tuhan ingin dia mati, dia sudah berada di kuburnya sekarang," kata Pangeran Khaled, dikutip dari The National News.
Adapun, setelah mengalami koma lebih dari satu dekade, Pangeran Al-Waleed terhitung sudah dua kali menggerakkan bagian tubuhnya, yakni pada 2019 dan 2020.
Pada 2019, Putri Nora binti Talal, saudara perempuan ayah Al-Waleed sempat membagikan sebuah video yang menampilkan Al-Waleed menggerakkan kepalanya ke sisi kiri dan sisi kanan.
